ASKS
Hi, I'm David. I'm building Upzoned because we need more housing, and one way to propagate that idea through the electorate is with computer games. If you're reading this, I could not be more grateful to you for your interest in my work. It really means a lot.
In the last two hours, I've been vibe coding a New York City adversarial policy simulator.

In the last two hours, I've been vibe coding a New York City adversarial policy simulator.
What is an adversarial simulator? In games like SimCity or Cities Skylines, you get to play God. Land is rezoned, budgets are amended, and policies implemented by executive (your) fiat…
Read the rest on X →I got the idea to build a housing political economy simulator one Friday night in July. Less than a week later, I launched inaugural demos of Upzoned.
I've worked in New York City politics and policy for nearly a decade, and in many respects, this game is a memoir. My experiences in observing the sheer institutional difficulties in bringing about economic and technological abundance to our city comprises the backbone of the game's logic.
But now, I need support to see this game to completion, and realize my vision for a new level of realism of policy world-building in game design. There's so much more left to build. And even beyond Upzoned, I envision an entire library of simulators that help inspire and restore people's faith that our country can be made more innovative, more abundant, and more prolific in what we build.
